I?m taking a dab at scriptwriting.
No, I?m not leaving the traditional ways. ?I?m still working on my next book project and I?m still writing short stories. But I found out scriptwriting is kind of fun AND a pretty great writing exercise.
See, with scriptwriting you absolutely HAVE TO be straightforward. You have a limit of five script-lines for descriptions and other-stuff-that?s-not-dialogue. Don?t forget that mathematically speaking, five script-lines = two book-lines. ?And these lines can?t be crappy. Picture your book?s best lines. Got it? You need to come up with them waaaaay more often when scriptwriting.
Why, you might ask? Because you still need to grab the reader?s interest. It?s still storytelling, only with some hip-clothing and cool accessories.
In the movie world, it?s mostly about pace ( the usual ?formula, compelling character + story, is implicit).
Don?t worry, it?ll be confusing and tiresome at first. You won?t be interested at all. Still, study the terminology. And take a dab into it, just for fun.? See what you can apply from this experience into your writing.
Yes, as you can see I'm a Nerd (indeed with capitol N).
Have a great weekend lovelies!
